Wired Paradise volgens AAJ een van de beste liveshows 2011
8 jan - In de buitenlandse eindejaarslijstjes valt weer een Nederlands succes te noteren. Volgens Ian Patterson van All About Jazz, een van de meest toonaangevende jazzsites ter wereld, heeft Yuri Honing's Wired Paradise een van de beste jazzshows van 2011 gegeven. Eerder werd Paul van Kemenade's album 'Close Enough' door DownBeat uitgeroepen tot een van de beste albums van vorig jaar.

Ian Patterson van All About Jazz zag Wired Paradise op 3 december tijdens het Penang Island Jazz Festival in Maleisië. In zijn concertrecensie schreef hij onder meer:
'Honing's best solo of the evening came on 'Tensing Norgay', a seductive, ambient composition with a reggae-ish groove. In full flow, notes tumbled and tore from Honing's tenor with a tremendous sense of purpose, and it was easy to see how the man from The Times got so excited about the saxophonist's sound.'
'Talking with members of the audience over the weekend, it was clear that Yuri Honing's Wired Paradise was the most challenging band of Penang Island Jazz Festival 2011 for the majority of the crowd, but it's unlikely that this will worry Honing, who continues to pursue a very personal, exciting musical path.'

In februari verschijnt een nieuw album van het Yuri Honing Acoustic Quartet, getiteld 'True'. Een nieuw samengesteld kwartet dat naast Yuri Honing bestaat uit Wolfert Brederode, Ruben Samama en Joost Lijbaart.
